The Department of Pennsylvania SEC meeting was held this past weekend with National Commander Rege Riley in attendance.  Commander Riley brought National Membership Director Harry Neal and Special Project Director Warren Cox who shared a wealth of knowledge during their visit.   

All honorably discharged veterans of every era will be able to get a photo identification card from the Department of Veterans Affairs starting in November due to a law passed in 2015.
 
The law, known as the Veterans Identification Card Act 2015, orders the VA to issue a hard-copy photo ID to any honorably discharged veteran who applies. The card must contain the veteran's name, photo and a non-Social Security identification number, the law states.

Imagine what it’s like to see your home flooded in a way that almost seems biblical. If you are one of the lucky ones to make it to a relief center, what do you do then? AmVets is on the ground in Houston and working with other VSO’s making sure there’s a veteran representative at every relief center in order to provide support or just answers to questions for displaced veterans.

Why are the younger Veterans avoiding the Veteran Service Organizations?

Before I researched why the post-Vietnam generation of Veterans were not joining Veteran Service Organizations (VSO), I asked myself, “Why wouldn’t veterans want to be around other veterans?” Truly, participating in a VSO provides a unique opportunity to serve our community with people from all walks of life, and also offers the opportunity to share the bond and comradery that melds us together as proud United States Veterans.
