On September 10, 2001 was a day like any other in America.  Nobody knew that in less than 24 hours our nation would be tested in ways that few will ever see.  

September 11, 2001 at 8:46am the first plane struck the world trade center starting the events that would see this nation at war for the next 17 years.  

2996 people perised that day with thousands to follow in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other places around the world to make it so no American citizen would ever have to experience that pain and terror ever again.

The Army Heritage Center Foundation and Humana Inc. invite you to join us on September 14th for a fun and educational event with school students in grades 6th – 8th at the U.S. Army Heritage Education Center. (950 Soldiers Drive, Carlisle, PA 17013) All veterans who sign up will also recieve a free t-shirt.

AMVETS and VFW members will team up with students from the local school districts to tour the mile-long Army Heritage Trail, visit the museum gallery inside, assist the students with a scavenger hunt, and get to know each other. All areas are handicap accessible.

WASHINGTON – Vietnam Veterans of America has filed a lawsuit against the Defense Department, alleging its website containing veterans’ and servicemembers’ records violates privacy rights and leaves them susceptible to fraud.

The site, scra.dmdc.osd.mil, is a searchable database of servicemembers’ active-duty status, intended to be used by banks and other institutions to determine whether a servicemember is on active duty and thus entitled to certain protections under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, such as protection from eviction. But Vietnam Veterans of America contends the website is poorly protected and allows access to “anybody at all, anonymously, for any purpose,” according to a prepared statement from the group. They argue it violates the Privacy Act.

WASHINGTON — The Senate unanimously passed legislation Tuesday evening to reform the process veterans use to appeal claims for benefits – a system that now leaves veterans waiting years to receive earned disability compensation and health care.
